Mark | Wheelchair Tennis Athlete

In 2017, my life took an unexpected turn after an ATV accident left me paralyzed. At 47, I’ve learned that while we can’t always choose our challenges, we can choose how we rise above them.

Discovering wheelchair tennis through Coach Marty and Adaptive Athletics was a true game changer. What started as a new activity quickly became a source of strength, community, and purpose. The people I’ve met through this sport—the athletes, coaches, and friends—have inspired me every step of the way.

Wheelchair tennis has given me more than a way to stay active—it’s given me a reason to push harder, stay positive, and keep growing. Whether I’m on the court or cheering on my teammates, I’m proud to be part of this incredible community.

Grateful for the journey, and excited for what’s ahead. Let’s roll.

Mark, I’m so honored to watch your commitment to wheelchair tennis grow. It’s hard to believe that since we met in early May, you’ve already traveled to multiple events, the NorCal Section All-Comers Camp in San Jose, The inaugural BORP Wheelchair Tennis camp, multiple weeks of our local Gold River weekly clinics, a few private lessons and now you are heading into your first official tournament.
You have truly been an inspiration to watch grow in confidence, ability and resilience over these past few months. Happy disability pride month brother and good luck this weekend.
