ALL ABOUT DISABLED SPORTS
Handisport is a sport whose rules have been specifically adapted to the particularities of people with physical, sensory and auditory disabilities so that they can practice regular physical and/or sporting activity like everyone else. Today, a very large majority of disabled sports are based on able-bodied sports. However, some practices are created especially for people with disabilities and therefore have no equivalent in valid sport.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
In the same way as able-bodied people, the regular practice of a physical and/or sporting activity has multiple benefits for people with disabilities. Integrating sport into one’s life course and care helps develop one’s physical abilities and improve one’s autonomy . Regular physical activity is an excellent means of social participation and integration . Sport is conducive to surpassing oneself , to reclaiming one’s body and helps to strengthen one’s self-confidence and one’s abilities . Physical exercise makes it possible to avoid the harmful effects of a sedentary lifestyle andprevents the risks of developing chronic pathologies such as obesity, osteoarthritis, diabetes and many others.
