Sportable is excited to host the 3rd annual River City Slam wheelchair tennis tournament in historic Richmond, Virginia June 8-11, 2023 at Collegiate School.

The USTA sanctioned event is open to all levels, including first-time players, in divisions A, B, C, D, Quad Open and Juniors. Collegiate School will host all matches on hard courts at the state-of-the-art Williams Bolletieri Tennis Center on its Robins Campus.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
The tournament schedule will be made available as we get closer to the tournament weekend in June. Players should plan on being in Richmond, VA by early afternoon on Thursday, June 8th, so please plan your travel accordingly!

SCHOLARSHIPS
We have a limited amount of funding available for player scholarships reserved for those who need financial assistance to attend our tournament. To be considered for a scholarship, please complete our application using the following link: https://sportable.org/scholarship-application/. We will review all applications and get back to you as soon as possible. Contact tournament director Forrest Lodge with any questions!

TOURNAMENT ANCILLARY EVENTS (TBD)
Stay tuned for updates on the ancillary events we have planned for River City Slam tournament weekend!

MEALS
BREAKFAST - Each host hotel will have complimentary breakfast available for tournament players. Please take advantage of this each morning!
LUNCH - Lunch will be provided to all tournament players on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the tournament. (More specific information on what we will have for lunches each day TBD. Stay tuned!)
SNACKS & REFRESHMENTS - Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the tournament weekend at 1 or more locations across the tournament venue.
DINNER - Dinner will be provided on Friday & Saturday night. Stay tuned for updates on this!

TRANSPORTATION
We are planning to work with local community partners to provide shuttle transportation for the following:

Arrivals at Richmond International Airport to the host hotels
Host hotels to tournament venue
Tournament venue back to host hotels
Host hotels to Richmond International Airport for departures

OTHER TOURNAMENT AMENITIES
There will be a variety of other amenities offered on-site at our tourament venue including:

Wheelchair Maintenance (i.e. air pumps, miscellaneous tools, spare tubes & tires, etc.)
Snacks and refreshments at "cool-down" stations across the venue
Athletic Trainer services each day of the tournament
Tournament player bags including tournament t-shirt and other fun giveaways
and MORE to be announced soon!

Coed A - Singles & Doubles (Cost $100)

Coed B - Singles & Doubles (Cost $100)

Coed C - Singles & Doubles (Cost $100)

Coed D - Singles & Doubles (Cost $100)

Coed Quad Open - Singles & Doubles (Cost $100)

Coed Juniors - Singles & Doubles (Cost $50) - the junior division singles and doubles division draws will be split into two flights to accommodate players based on their experience and ability level. Flight A will be for more experienced juniors, and Flight B will be for less experienced juniors. We will determine this off of USTA ranking and the interests of the player.

REFUNDS

Refunds are not required and are at the discretion of the member organization.

All tournaments shall post a Refund Policy on the tournament homepage. Member organizations are not required to refund players for events affected by inclement weather. The MAS recommends that a credit, or a full, or partial refund be offered to players affected by the cancellation for a future event hosted by that same organization. The shortening or cancelation of events is outlined in the Inclement Weather Policy.

MAS REGULATIONS:

This tournament operates in accordance with the rules and guidelines listed in USTA Mid-Atlantic Regulations, USTA Junior National Tournament, Ranking, and Sanction Regulations, and USTA Friend at Court. By registering for this event, players and parents are agreeing to be familiar with and abide by all aspects of the MAS Regulations to include meeting sportsmanship expectations, all aspects of fair play, and respecting the game of tennis.
